Up to this point little has been exposed in depth about the giant Akatsuki member except most obviously that his former home/village can be drawn from the scratched forehead protector of the secluded Waterfall village known for their special "Hero Water." The reason for his departure also remains unknown for the time being but based upon the persona presented by the missing-nin in his appearances it seems that it was most likely the cause of one of two things. The first being of his notable rage that is said when it reaches its back in a hot spot the former Taki-nin wants to kill everyone near him in this state, which could have very possibly been a reason for him to have left the village after one of those incidents. Or secondly, another reason which could have led to his departure may have dealt with his money-driven mentality, thinking that the village wasn’t profitable enough for him.

It has been revealed that Kakuzu also fought the first Hokage, one of the founders of the Hidden Leaf village. Giving this mysterious man an even more alluring aura to himself that the missing-nin of being most likely older then even the third Hokage was when taking into consideration that he managed to not only fight the powerful ninja but also survive to tale-the-tail. Though it was not spoken into detail about the out come of what must have been an intriguing fight; wood jutsu versus the man‘s elemental creatures and his fusion attacks. In the years after taking the leave from his own village it seems that he became somewhat of a freelance bounty hunter who seeks out shinobi with good bounties upon their head.

To the point of even having his own personal accountant and being known by name by most all ‘black market’ secret bounty stations and the men that run them. Most likely the missing-nin/bounty hunter’s reasons for joining the Akatsuki Organization could bring him more money then his exploits alone could bring him in. During which he was partnered with a man by the name of Hidan, who it turns out despite their conflicts could be considered the most appropriate partner for the man because Kakuzu was known to have killed all of his previous partners before this man. But as the former Taki-nin stated himself, ‘You just can’t kill, Hidan.’ Their latest accomplishment of a pair was the destruction of the Fire Country Temple where Kakuzu and his partner wiped out many of the monks and killed Chiriku, Kakuzu's bounty target. Afterwards, Kakuzu cashed in the head monk’s body for the bounty upon his head acquiring a good some of money for it.
As of late, the monster of a man was known to have single handedly taken down the Hachibi Jinchuuriki during a battle at the Kiri invasion of Joukaku. He was also the individual who attained Zetsu's ring at his death, which came from the hands of one of Oto’s self-proclaimed Sound Five members. The money-loving man has also revisited his past one might say after the take over of Taki as he returned and made contact with the new ladies of the village. Aside from killing a number of individuals and bounties there is nothing else noteworthy to be spoken about in the Akatsuki member’s history.

‘On a shorter side note, from reading the chapters with Kakuzu it seems to leave open the possible believe that the former Waterfall ninja could have been involved in the medical fields and/or possibly be an individual that sufferers of what some doctors may describe as ‘surgical addiction‘. Judging from the appearance of his hands and body (first shown during chapter 326 of manga) it appears that they have been surgically altered in some what to all them to perform such actions. Also when he easily reattached his partners decapitated head to his body, shows that he has knowledge of the medical arts, along with having been said to have re-attached Deidara’s arm after it was blown off during his confirmation with Kakashi.
